BULLETIN: |
Study
of
functions,
limits,
continuity,
derivatives, definite integrals, and the Fundamental
Theorem of Calculus. Credit will not be allowed for
both MATH 123 and MATH 181. Prerequisite: MATH 117
or 122 or satisfactory departmental placement. A graphing
calculator is required. For specific recommendations see
the Department of Mathematics World Wide Web site
(http://math.wallawalla.edu). |

OBJECTIVES: |
After finishing this course, the student should be able to understand the concepts of limit, continuity, derivative, and definite integral and be proficient in computing limits and derivatives of functions and some elementary definite integrals through the use of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. In addition, the student should be able use differentiation in a variety of applications including graphing, min-max, and related rate problems.
HOMEWORK (computer): |
Each WeBWorK assignment is worth 10 points.
HOMEWORK
(handwritten): |
Each
handwritten
assignment
is
worth
10 points and is due on Monday unless otherwise
stated. |

Late homework (MORE THAN ONE CLASS DAY LATE) is deducted at the rate of two points per class day late --- see me about late work due to illness.
Paper should be approximately 8.5 by 11; one or both sides may be used.
Must be neat. | ||||||||||||||||
Must be done in pencil to be accepted.
Due at the beginning of the class period.
Papers are to be folded as a book with name and assignment number on the outside as illustrated.
