TEXT: Calculus with Analytic Geometry, 9th ed., by R. E. Larson, R. P. Hostetler, & B. H. Edwards
INSTRUCTOR: T. M. Thompson KRH 332 ph: 2181 Office Hours
EXAMINATIONS: 3 one-hour exams: 28 Jan (Mon) 13 Feb (Wed)
4 Mar (Mon)

1 two-hour final: 20 Mar (8 a.m. Wed)
BULLETIN: Study of differential and integral calculus of multi-variable functions, line and surface integrals, Green's theorem, divergence theorem, and Stokes' theorem. Prerequisite: MATH 282.
OBJECTIVES: After finishing this course, the student should be able to understand and compute partial derivatives and multiple integrals including applications to continuity, directional derivatives, extrema, volume, surface area, mass, and centers of mass.  In addition, the student will also set up and evaluate line and surface integrals including applications involving the three named major theorems of vector analysis. Studens will also be expected to use both Maple software for 3D representations of functions of two variables, for partial differentiation, and for multiple integration.
HOMEWORK (WeBWorK): Each assignment is worth 10 points.

HOMEWORK (handwritten):

The 10 point assignments are due on Monday unless otherwise stated.

SUGGESTIONS
ON WRITING
UP SOLUTIONS

Late homework (MORE THAN ONE CLASS DAY LATE) is deducted at the rate of two points per class day late --- see me about late work due to illness.
Paper should be approximately 8.5 by 11; one or both sides may be used.
Must be neat.
Must be done in pencil to be accepted.
Due at the beginning of the class period.
Papers are to be folded as a book with name and assignment number on the outside as illustrated.
GRADING: Homework: 20% of grade (lowest score is deleted).

Hour Exams: 16% + 16% + 16% = 48% of grade.

Final: 32% of grade.

Appropriate (to me) modification of these letter grade percentages may be made in individual cases for progress, unusual circumstances, etc.

All materials submitted by a  student will be evaluated in a timely manner (typically 2 weeks).  Exams will be scored (with overall class grades attached) and be accessible for viewing by a student before the next exam.
